The time has come. You can create a credible digital clone of yourself. Heygen, the company that makes me speak fluent Japanese instead of Dutch in the video below (the original video was Dutch) has put a beta version of their AI tool “Instant Avatar” online. With it, you can generate a digital clone of yourself with just 2 minutes of video.
I'm on the waiting list, so are you. In China, it's been possible a little longer: Since 2022, a swarm of Chinese startups and major tech companies have been offering the service of creating deepfake avatars for e-commerce livestreaming. With just a few minutes of sample video and $1,000 in costs, brands can clone a human streamer to work 24/7. And they literally do. Crazy. Where are we headed? To a world where deepfakes are the most normal thing in the world... Rae is already fluent in Portuguese.
