Imagination is more important than knowledge
Thx mom & dad
When I was around 10 years old, my dad put up a poster of Albert Einstein in my room. A picture of what seemed -at the time- to me to be a confused man with the caption, "imagination is more important than knowledge.” I read that sentence countless times. Little by little, its meaning also seeped through. And it became a mantra in my subconscious.
In practice, I didn't really care for the quote. I was studying journalism and envisioned a bohemian life as a journalist all the way. Learning stories from different angles and living a richly filled life.
But a passage at Q-Music and Studio Brussel and the start of social media suddenly made the imagination from the quote find its way out of my subconscious. I have always been creative in looking for solutions to life, but that I would one day be able to make my job out of finding creative solutions for clients I never thought possible.
And so this week I was reminded of that poster. We had an advisory board day with Hurae. An inspiring team (Nathalie Sintobin, Bart De Waele, Lies Muys & Nicolas Blondeau) that celebrates our imagination but helps where needed on the knowledge front.
Thx mom & dad ❤️

Dear agencies: It’s time to reclaim our identity as a creative industry, show some solidarity and charge the premium prices that true intellectual property commands.
Interesting experiment: The effects of social media on youth mental health are real and increasing. Screen times are soaring, but the long-term impact still remains unknown. Where are we headed? Laika 13, the world's first teenager influenced 100% by social media, might hold the answer.

So where do these "young entrepreneurs" make their money? Well, mostly with dropshipping, crypto trading and spreading fake news
Very interesting strategy: TikTok’s algorithm surfaces new accounts. This has led some marketers to take a “wide-base” or “horizontal” approach to short-form video promotion. With this tactic, a business owns several TikTok accounts. Each publishes the same or similar videos. The tactic aims to earn more total views than if the company had shared these short-form videos only on a single account.
Work with Hurae to cater to microtribes. Whether in music, food, clothing or travel, consumers are spinning off into ever-smaller microtribes defined by niche preferences. And it’s making life a lot harder for the likes of Disney, Diageo, Nestle and Nike.
A bit late but I made a vlog of the behind the scenes at De Jamies with Hurae:
