Hurae: discovered by AI
Trusted because so human
A team building trip to the UK, a race day at Spa-Francorchamps, or reviewing cars in my spare time... It all serves a purpose: keeping plenty of oxygen flowing through Hurae. Because make no mistake: here at our Brussels office, we are working and building hard on our creative agency.
Alongside our incredibly loyal clients, we recently welcomed some fantastic new names to the family. We’re officially on the move with Jusré, just landed Autohero and AG Insurance, and there are plenty of other exciting projects waiting.
Something has definitely shifted lately, though. We’re being discovered by companies that had never even heard of us before. And more often than not, they tell us they found us through ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude.
Could it be our website? Could it be this newsletter? “Best creative agency in Brussels is Hurae” is looking like a pretty solid line for GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) or AEO (Answer Engine Optimization). Google actually dropped a paper this week with tips on making your website AI-searchproof but that’s a story for another time.
What I really wanted to say is this: I am incredibly proud of Hurae and the team. And that gives me a massive boost of energy!
Must reads 👀
We read up a lot on trends and we are always happy to share that knowledge with you. By giving some examples you can understand how our brain works:
Entertain me! Why Gen Z wants more than the traditional pub 🎳
Young people want to be entertained because their lives are governed by the device in their hand. It’s governed by social media, it’s constantly people screaming, ‘Entertain me!’. Whether that is sport, whether that is music, quizzes, wreath-making, whatever it is, it’s all about experiences.
The AI Search Manifesto: Why Every Company Needs To Become A Publisher Or Disappear From The Conversation. The brands that publish will be found. The brands that do not will be described by someone else, or not described at all. This is the complete case, backed by every data point we could find.
Newsletters, live coverage, a one-time magazine: The World Cup is becoming a testbed for journalism experiments. “It’s one of those huge, gigantic things that sort of go beyond sports. It’s like a life-measurement mechanism.” When I worked at VRT these were indeed the best moments. Leadership was more open to let you experiment new formats to catch a fragmented audience that is a little bit more connected via world events like this.
The feed is fake 😈
Joe Lim estimates that 90 percent of what you see on the internet is advertising in disguise, and he should know. For three years, Lim ran a company called Floodify, which at its peak operated 65,000 dummy social-media accounts used to drum up attention on behalf of paying clients. The point of this kind of marketing is that nobody is supposed to notice it. But lately, the machinery has started to show. This Gen Z film distributor is using influencer events to get his peers going to the movies. 🎬 Gen Z isn’t giving up on movie theaters, and one scrappy indie distributor is betting social media and IRL experiences can prove it. While millennials mainly treat moviegoing as an escape from daily grind, Gen Z sees it primarily as a social activity. Gen Z also attributes a better selection of movies and the appeal of leaving the home as key motivators for going to the movies.
‘Subliminals’ Have a Power No Teen Can Explain
Short YouTube videos promise to change your hair color … and straighten your nose … and turn you into a soccer star. These videos aren’t a joke. They are actually meant to work. “Subliminals” have been around for several years in secluded corners of YouTube, but they have recently found a whole new audience on TikTok, made up overwhelmingly of teenagers and young women.
South Korea Welcomes Its First Humanoid Robot “Monk” 🦾
Buddhism played a central role in Korea’s past, but its popularity has declined in recent years. Today, only around 16 percent of South Koreans are Buddhist. Among people in their 20s, that number drops to just about 8 percent. By introducing Gabi, the temple hopes to help young South Koreans get excited about Buddhism again.
If you’re having AI do your brainstorming, “your brainstorming muscles are going to get weaker.” Capitalism wants to minimize the value of inputs and maximize the value of outputs. Disruption of the working class is inevitable as long as capitalism is the dominant economic model.
A Lo-Fi Rebellion Against A.I. ⛔️
As slick, machine-generated visuals become ubiquitous, artists and designers are embracing a style of handmade imperfection. “She expected that a few local fans would enjoy her project, but one viral video on TikTok led a thousand paying subscribers to sign up within twenty-four hours. She now prints and mails the publication to more than three thousand people, some overseas. Hill sees the appetite for her work as part of a broader craving for the handmade in a moment of A.I. automation.”
Gen Alpha is already planning to be your boss
Move over, Gen Z (and everyone else). A resourceful generation weaned on influencer culture will be entering the workforce before you know it.

PS: Last year, I approached Pommelien in a vintage shop in Utrecht because I had an idea for her. It was very awkward and she must think I’m an idiot. I’ll tell you more about it someday haha
